Ukrainian army receives new version of Stugna ATGM – media

The launcher has received a number of improvements, including reduced weight and an improved remote control.

The Armed Forces received a new version of the Stugna ATGM, which was introduced in 2022. This was reported by Janes.

At the Polish arms exhibition MSPO 2023, representatives of the State Kyiv Design Bureau “Luch” confirmed to journalists that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use the Skif-M ATGM, also known as Stugna. The version was developed last year based on the experience of using Stugna in the war. The launcher has undergone changes: the tripod has become lighter, the rotation and elevation devices have been replaced with new ones, and the battery has been changed. In addition, the Stugna received an improved remote control to make the missile’s flight more convenient. It has also become lighter.

The experience has also shown that Russian equipment rarely detects laser rangefinder exposure, as only a small number of vehicles have such sensors. The laser rangefinder was integrated into the new PN-U aiming and guidance module. In addition, the ATGM retained the ability to use the RK-2 missile family, which was available in the basic version. The munitions include a 130-mm missile with a range of up to 5 km. The tandem warhead can penetrate up to 800 mm of homogeneous armor. There is also an even more powerful 152-mm missile with armor penetration of up to 1,100 mm behind dynamic protection.

According to Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister for Strategic Industries, Ukraine has significantly increased the production of Stugna ATGMs.

On August 8, Oleksandr Kamyshin said that Ukraine had increased production of Stugna ATGMs by 4 times since the beginning of the year.
