About 22 thousand pilgrims have already arrived in Uman, Ukraine, to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. Most of them are Israeli citizens.
Ihor Taburets, the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military District Administration, announced this on his Telegram channel.
“We urge both locals and visitors to be as vigilant as possible, to respond to air raid alerts, to follow safety rules and not to succumb to enemy manipulations,” the official emphasized.
He reminded that Russians often spread various fakes online to justify their crimes, intimidate civilians or organize provocations. Taburets urged the pilgrims to remain calm in any situation and to trust trusted sources of information.
The Ukrainian authorities also assured that the situation in Uman is stable and under control. Ukraine’s security and defense forces are working in a reinforced mode. Together with Ukrainian law enforcement officers, Israeli police officers are already on duty in the pilgrimage neighborhood.
Meanwhile, local media report that Uman is experiencing serious communication problems. The Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the information, and the reason is not disclosed.
The day before, Russians launched a fake about a “terrorist attack” in Uman on Rosh Hashanah. Information appeared online that the Ukrainian military allegedly intended to carry out a “terrorist attack” in the city. Kyiv has already responded to these rumors and denied them.
