During the night and early morning hours of September 18, Ukraine’s air defense successfully shot down all 17 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles launched by Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Volgograd region. They were intercepted in Dnipropetrovs’k, Poltava, and Khmelnytsky regions.
The army of the terrorist state used eight aircraft for these missile strikes.
AFU Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk posted a video on Telegram of the IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system in an unknown modification. You can see the launch of anti-missiles and interception of enemy missiles.
“There was a third one, too,” he added, meaning that this unit shot down three missiles, although the video shows two successful interceptions.
Also on the night of September 18, the Russians attacked with Shahed-136/131 barrage munitions flying from two directions: Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia) and Cape Chauda (occupied Crimea).
Out of 24 “shaheds” launched in the direction of Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, 18 were destroyed.
There was a hit to the recreational infrastructure of the Vilkovo community: a fire broke out and was quickly extinguished. There was no information about the victims.
The wreckage of the downed Shahed also caused a fire in a non-residential two-story building in Snihurivska community in Mykolaiv region.
