Automated loading system will make 2S22 Bohdan a competitor to Caesar
The 2S22 Bogdana is mass-produced in Ukraine in several modifications. The artillerymen told ArmyInform journalists about the peculiarities of the installation they have been operating in Donetsk region for the past three months.
“The Bohdana is used to strike typical targets such as ammunition depots, armored vehicles, command and observation posts, manpower, etc. Ukrainian artillerymen use mostly cluster and high-explosive munitions. They make an average of about 100 shots during the day.
According to the battery commander, his subordinates are “extremely satisfied” with the Ukrainian artillery system. It is maneuverable and accurate. In addition, Bogdana is characterized by a high level of automation. A remote control is used to control the automated control system.
The main disadvantage of the installation is the lack of a charging machine. It is currently under development. Gunners claim that the Bohdana with automatic loading will be able to compete on equal terms with the French Caesar self-propelled gun.
Earlier, Vladyslav Belbas, who is the head of Ukrainian Armor, said that 2C22 Bohdan is being mass-produced in Ukraine in several versions. This approach allowed us to speed up the delivery of artillery systems to the Defense Forces.
