A “fat” trophy for $3 million. Ukrainian soldiers capture latest Russian tank (photos, video)

Ukrainian soldiers captured a modernized Russian T-72B3 tank of the 2022 model. It may soon be in service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The Russian tank was captured by fighters of the 15th Kara-Dag Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The video shows that an on-board computer is installed inside the combat vehicle to control all the systems for which the driver-mechanic is responsible.

The T-72B3 is an economy version of the most advanced Russian tank, the T-90M Proryv. The $3 million combat vehicle has been modernized several times. The 2022 version of the model has a 1PN-96MT-02 gunner’s sight and a reduced-resolution infrared camera.

The tank received Kontakt-1 units in addition to Kontakt-5 dynamic protection. It is worth noting that the Kontakt-5 modules were integrated into the 2016 modernization, which also brought the 2A46M-5-01 gun, automated transmission, thermal imager, and B-92S2F engine.
