Germany buys 60 LUNA NG drones and 24 ground control stations worth $310 million

The German Armed Forces will receive LUNA New Generation (NG) unmanned aerial vehicles. The Bundestag Budget Committee approved the purchase.

Germany has allocated almost $310 million to purchase 12 unmanned aerial systems from Rheinmetall. Each system consists of five drones, two ground control stations, two launchers and additional equipment.

LUNA NG can climb to an altitude of up to 5000 meters, has a range of 100 km and is capable of transmitting data in real time. A 40 kg drone can stay in the air for 12 hours.

One of the features is the ability to carry small drones. In the spring of 2023, tests were conducted to deploy eight Israeli Hero-R kamikaze drones on board LUNA NG.
