What is known about the MLRS used against Hamas
The American M270 MLRS mobile unit based on the Bradley armored personnel carrier has been in service with the Israeli artillery forces since 1994. Germany, France, and the United Kingdom also participated in its development. MLRS can be equipped with various types of missiles, including cluster munitions.
The MLRS was first introduced to the public in Israel in 2004, while in 2006 the systems destroyed dozens of Hezbollah Katyushas.
In addition, the MLRS system consists of a combat vehicle that combines a launcher and a charging vehicle, an M985 ammunition carrier for ammunition delivery, and a communication and control system. The main parts of the M270 combat vehicle are the chassis and the artillery unit. In particular, the artillery unit is mounted on a modified elongated tracked chassis of the BMP M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, which allows it to move over rough terrain.
