TRO has made an extraordinary “gan-truck” based on a Tatra and a 1940s KC-19 (photo)
The press service of the 241st Territorial Defense Brigade showed photos taken during the training of its soldiers in the fall of 2023.
In this footage, we can see perhaps the most unusual “gan-truck” at the disposal of our defenders for the entire period of the full-scale invasion of Russia, consisting of a Tatra truck and a 100-mm anti-aircraft gun KS-19, which was adopted in the late 1940s and saw service in Korea and Vietnam.
The unusual thing here is not only that Tatra trucks are not yet widespread in our country. What is also unusual here is how exactly the soldiers could have gotten hold of these KS-19s, which were used in the towed version in the summer of 2023.
The first option is that these KC-19s for our terrorist defense could have been taken directly from the Armed Forces’ storage warehouses. The second option is that these guns were still trophy guns, and these are the KS-19s that the racists could have left in the Kharkiv region in the fall of 2022 when they fled the region. But here we would like to detail that the number of KC-19s that our defenders may have at their disposal now is not publicly available.
We would like to remind you of the “passport” characteristics of the KS-19 anti-aircraft guns: the rate of fire is up to 15 rounds/min, the range of fire is up to 20 km against ground targets, and against air targets – up to 15 km. The actual characteristics that the KS-19 can produce in live fire are also unknown.
Another interesting question is where our army can get 100-mm rounds for the KC-19. Because it is equally likely that such shells could have been in the arsenals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a certain quantity, and that the rounds for the COP-19 were still received from partner countries either as military and technical assistance or purchased under commercial contracts.
