Russia has developed the MM-1 foam drone for passing through Ukraine’s electronic warfare

Russian engineers claim that they have managed to create a drone capable of passing through Ukraine’s electronic warfare without hindrance. They used foam to make the MM-1 aircraft.

The TsAGIStart representative explained that the drone has almost no metal parts. Thanks to this, it is invisible to electronic warfare equipment. A foam drone with a 5 kg payload can accelerate up to 100 km/h. The UAV is equipped with a special camera that allows it to be controlled in FPV mode.

Currently, MM-1 exists as a prototype. In the near future, engineers plan to assemble five more such aircraft. They are trying to make the drone as invisible as possible to Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment.

According to the UAS Vision portal, the foam does have a cellular structure that is problematic for electronic warfare and radar. When radio waves collide with the foam, they are absorbed, scattered or reflected by the voids inside. This makes it extremely difficult to determine the exact location of the object.
