Russia is preparing the largest offensive operation for this year, it will be in Avdiivka – British intelligence

Avdiyivka is a serious obstacle for Russia, which wants to occupy Donetsk region within its administrative boundaries, so the attack on the city will be perhaps the largest.

This was reported by British intelligence.

They noted that the Russians will try to surround Avdiivka with several armored battalions.

“This is likely to be the most significant offensive operation undertaken by Russia since at least January 2023,” the report said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are currently holding back the Russian offensive, and the latter are losing heavy equipment and personnel.

“Slow progress and heavy casualties are likely to have led to a change in Russian messaging from offensive to ‘active defense’ as the successful capture of Avdiivka looks increasingly unlikely in the short term,” the British intelligence service said.

  • The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in an evening summary on October 16 that the occupiers unsuccessfully stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops in the Avdiivka sector.
