A passenger, who turned out to be a pilot, tried to shut down the engines of an airplane with 83 people on board during a flight to the United States

On October 22, a dangerous incident occurred on a flight to the United States. One of the passengers, who turned out to be a professional pilot, tried to shut down the engines during the flight.

According to Sky News. one of the passengers tried to shut down the engines during the flight. It turned out that the attacker, Joseph Emerson, is a professional pilot and an employee of Alaska Airlines.

The incident occurred on a 76-seat Embraer 175 aircraft flying from Everett to San Francisco.

Emerson, who was in the cockpit, tried to turn off the plane’s engines during the flight. He was sitting on a folding seat in the cockpit, which is how airlines usually transfer unoccupied pilots from one airfield to another.

Fortunately, the crew members quickly “tamed” the offender, “compensated” for his interference with the aircraft and requested an unscheduled landing in Portland. The passengers of the flight were later sent on another plane.

Joseph Emerson was arrested by the Portland police and charged with 83 counts of attempted murder, 83 counts of endangering an aircraft, and endangering an aircraft.

The publication also reproduces the crew’s message about the incident to the dispatch service.

“We want to warn you. We have a guy here who tried to shut down the engines right from the cockpit. I don’t think he’s lying down uncomfortably. He seems to have calmed down. The other thing is that we will need the support of law enforcement once we are on the ground and parked,” the pilot said.
