Kratos showed the appearance of the ultra-modern Thanatos drone
The North American company Kratos is developing a new tactical UAV. This week, she unexpectedly revealed the details of the project.
According to Shepard, development of the Thanatos drone began in 2019. It was conducted in strict secrecy. Eric DeMarco, who serves as the head of Kratos, called the new tactical drone a “key project.”
From the image released by Kratos, it appears that Thanatos received a shovel-shaped nose, making it look like a tailless “bird”. Thanks to the recessed inlets and deep chin line, the tactical drone will be invisible to radar. The hidden tail eliminates the possibility of detecting Thanatos in the infrared range.
According to Root Nation journalists, the US Army will use Thanatos as “trucks” to transport missiles for fighter jets, missile defense carriers in tandem with B-21 Rider missile carriers, and independent combat units.
Kratos is the developer of the XQ-58 Valkyrie. Last summer, it became known that the new drone was equipped with an advanced AI-based Shield AI system. It will provide him with complete autonomy while performing his tasks. Keatos engineers claim that the UAV will be invulnerable to Russian electronic warfare.
