Russian Federation attacks civilian vessel near Odesa: footage of the aftermath of the missile attack (video)

A Russian missile has completely destroyed the wheelhouse of the Kmax Ruler, according to a recording from the site of the Russian Armed Forces strike. Some fragments of the enemy shell cut deep into the metal.

On November 8, a Russian missile struck the civilian cargo ship Kmax Ruler, killing a Ukrainian pilot who was in the wheelhouse. The fragments of the explosive device cut through the deck, sides, and equipment of the vessel, in some places piercing metal parts, according to a video shot at the scene. The recording was published by OSINT investigator Necro Mancer in a post on the X network (formerly Twitter).

The witness who is recording walks around the top of the Kmax Ruler with a camera. At the same time, it shows damage to the wheelhouse, where the pilot could have died. You can see the shattered windows, damaged roof, and broken equipment. In the footage taken from the outside, you can see the surface of the metal parts of the ship, pierced through by the fragments of a Russian missile. Some of the fragments hit thick layers of metal but failed to penetrate it.

It is worth noting that the OSINT investigator, when publishing the video, refers to a Tiktok post that no longer exists. However, other videos with footage from the scene can be found on Tiktok: the video shows the same cabin, where crew members are walking around, shoveling debris from the Russian missile strike with their feet.

Russian shelling of Odesa region on November 8 – details

It was stated that the Kmax Ruler ship had entered the Pivdennyi port to pick up a cargo of ore that was to be transported to China. At the same time, British intelligence suggested that the reason for the strike was “a Russian pilot’s mistake.”

It should be noted that the Russian missile strike on the cargo ship was reported by the representative of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Sergei Bratchuk. According to the official, the Liberian-flagged ship was entering one of Ukraine’s ports and came under fire from the Russian Federation. A pilot was killed in the shelling: it later became known that the Ukrainian’s name was Serhiy Surin, he was 43 years old. Several crew members and port personnel were also injured.
