Fire, explosions and even mass evacuation: unknown UAVs attacked Crimea and two regions of Russia

On the night of November 16, two groups of UAVs threatened Bryansk region and the temporarily occupied Crimea, and there was also an attack on a military base in Volgograd region by drones. Russian air defense forces reported that they had shot down all the drones that were preparing to carry out a “terrorist attack.”

The details of the nighttime drone strike were reported on the Telegram channel of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Russian command reported that the attack was carried out by “airplane-type” drones. Two drones made it to the Bryansk region and three to Crimea. According to the Russians, the air defense forces destroyed all the UAVs.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not specify which objects the drones were targeting. It only indicated that they were launched by the “Kyiv regime”.

It should be noted that Crimean publics posted comments on the night’s events. Residents of Sevastopol noted that it was “loud”. No other details were published.

The Telegram channels of the representative of the occupation authorities in Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, and the head of the occupied Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, do not contain any information about the explosions. There are also no reports of an air raid alert. At the same time, the governor of the Bryansk region, Aleksandr Bogomaz, published a message from the Russian Defense Ministry and added some details. The Russian official noted that “operational services are working”, although “there is no damage and no injuries”.

A fire broke out on the territory of a military unit in the Volgograd region, according to Russian media. UAVs were also heard there.

Later, the Russian Telegram channel Baza supplemented the information: “Residents of Kotluban reported that before the fire started on the territory of the military unit, they heard a sound characteristic of a flying drone. An explosion followed.”

According to public reports, more than 600 people were evacuated from the territory of the unit in the Volgograd region. Local authorities also do not comment on the situation.
