In Donetsk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are advancing in the vicinity of Opytne. Our fighters occupied part of the settlement and managed to gain a foothold there. This was announced by Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiivka MBA, during a telethon on September 10.
“Two days ago, when the Russian military were concentrated in the north of the city (Avdiivka) in assault operations, the guys conducted a lightning assault operation and occupied part of Opytne, entrenched themselves and are already fighting in the settlement,” he said.
According to him, the Ukrainian flag in the sky over Donetsk helped to do this. Yesterday, on August 9, Ukrainian volunteers launched it into the sky from Avdiivka. The occupiers noticed him and started shooting at him.
Thus, the enemies revealed all their positions, and the Ukrainian army launched simultaneous attacks.
Donetsk airport is 3.5 km from Opytne village.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced in the Melitopol sector near Robotyne and Verbove. In other areas of the southern front, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their positions, repelling enemy “meat assaults” by “Storm Z” units.
