Such a fine is imposed in Finland, where the amount of the penalty depends on the offender’s income.
Finnish businessman Anders Wiklöf was fined 121,000 euros for speeding. This was reported by Nyan. In addition, his driver’s license was confiscated for ten days.
The police “detected” the car driven by Wicklöf at a speed of 82 km per hour, instead of the permitted 50 km per hour. “I had just started to slow down, but the police were just measuring the speed,” says Mr. Wicklöf.
Such a significant amount of the fine is explained by the fact that Finland calculates the amount of fines for traffic violations based on the offender’s income.
“I am very sorry for what happened and I hope that this money will at least go to healthcare through the state treasury,” he told Nyan.
This is not the first time that Anders Wicklöf has been caught speeding and fined heavily. In 2018, he was fined €63,680 for running a stop sign, and in 2013 he received a €95,000 fine for speeding. Wiklöf is the owner of Wiklöf Holding, which includes more than 20 Finnish companies in the fields of logistics, construction, real estate, trade and tourism.
