A hidden feature for disabling AI has been found in Windows 11

In the test build of Windows 11, enthusiasts have discovered an interesting feature. Judging by its description, it will allow uninstalling AI-related components in the same way as standard programs – right in the operating system settings menu.

The innovation was noticed in the “insider” build of Windows 11 26016. It is hidden by default, but can be activated using the ViveTool utility (command vivetool /enable /id:47688503). After that, a new item will appear in the Settings (System – AI Components). Now it contains only a few standard applications, but later, as insiders suggest, the list of candidates for removal will be expanded.

In addition to the Windows Copilot cloud service, the operating system is rumored to soon have a local AI component. Most likely, the new settings item will allow you to remove it if the user does not need the help of the “co-pilot”. Microsoft hasn’t officially announced the new Windows feature yet. It is expected that a significant part of AI-related innovations will be implemented in the version codenamed Hudson Valley.
