The Ku-band radio frequency system (KuRFS) is capable of detecting any strike drone and can help artillery respond to any threats, writes defensenews.com.

The advanced, multi-purpose, adaptive radar is manufactured by Raytheon Technologies, a division of Raytheon Missiles & Defense. The companies work closely with the US military and supply the US military with equipment to detect unmanned aerial systems of all kinds. It was KuRFS that was created specifically to combat UAVs. Today, the Army operates about 60 KuRFS radars around the world, providing constant 360-degree surveillance, as well as tracking and recognition of aerial objects. The military claims that the KuRFS can see helicopters and aircraft at distances of up to 100 km or more.

As soon as KuRFS detects threats, it warns by sending certain signals. The military has time to intercept the enemy drone, as the data is received by 50-caliber guns and 30 mm guns, or to hide in shelters.

The detection system of combat drones has AESA technology at its disposal, which allows you to direct radio waves in different directions without moving the antenna. AESA makes space scanning very accurate also because the equipment works in the Ku-band of the electromagnetic spectrum. Ku-band short waves provide sharper image resolution than other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum and allow the radar to distinguish many small objects at once. It can even see and identify a 9mm bullet in flight.

KuRFS is integrated with 15 weapons systems, including Phalanx land-based platforms, Coyote platforms, Phaser microwave radiation transmitter, HELWS high-energy laser weapon system, and SHORAD air defense control system.
