A recent attack on St. Petersburg was carried out by Ukrainian UAVs with a range of 1,250 kilometers – Kamyshin
The Russian port infrastructure in St. Petersburg was attacked by Ukrainian-made drones with a flight range of 1250 kilometers.
The corresponding the statement was made by Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin.
On the night of January 18, at about 1:30 am, Russian air defense systems intercepted an aircraft-type drone in the Leningrad region.
Russian media reported that three drones were used in the attack. The wreckage of one of them was found on the territory of the Petersburg Oil Terminal enterprise. The port infrastructure was not damaged.
An unidentified airplane-type drone with a wingspan of 6 meters and a piston engine was carrying a 3 kg warhead.
In addition, two more drones allegedly could have fallen in the Gulf of Finland, 5 kilometers from the terminal.
It is noted that on the way to St. Petersburg, they flew through Bryansk, Smolensk, Tver and Novgorod regions.
The Ukrayinska Pravda publication, citing its sources in the special services, reported that the Main Intelligence Directorate was behind the attack on the Russian infrastructure facility.
“This is a DIU operation involving modern Ukrainian means. Data collection continues, and there are confirmed hits on targets. From now on, the military facilities of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region are within the reach of Ukrainian forces,” the source said.
When asked if this was the first time Ukrainian drones attacked the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation, the source said that “not for the first time, but there are differences, and the enemy has felt them.”
It is worth noting that the Russian “Petersburg Oil Terminal”, which was struck, is the largest Russian oil transshipment terminal in the Baltic region.
