The Customs Service has reported the detention of a commercial shipment of Starlink satellite terminals that were attempted to be imported into Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid. The incident occurred on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border at the Astey customs post.
It is noted that during customs and border control, a 36-year-old tourist bus driver returning from the EU to Ivano-Frankivsk declared that he was carrying only humanitarian aid. Thus, according to the documents provided, the address of a public organization in the city of 19 sets of Starlink Kit terminals were sent from Madrid to Syatyn. The total cost of these terminals is 170 thousand. UAH.
However, in response to a request from customs officers, the NGO denied that it was a recipient of humanitarian aid in the form of satellite terminals. In this regard, a report on violation of customs regulations under Part 1 of the Customs Code was drawn up against the driver for attempting to move goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control. 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the satellite terminals have been temporarily seized by customs officers. The case will be sent to court for further consideration. The offender faces penalties in the form of 100% of the value of the offense items with their subsequent confiscation.
