On Sunday, October 15, the first train set off from Lviv to Warsaw after an 18-year hiatus. This was written by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.
“A historic event: after 18 years, the first train has departed from Lviv to Warsaw! Passengers are traveling from the regional center to Rava-Ruska, and there they will conveniently transfer to a train of the Polish carrier SKPL, which will take them to Poland,” he said in a statement.
It is known that both trains can carry about 200 passengers per one-way trip. The offer includes 1st and 2nd class seats.
“In March, on the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, we started implementing a project to launch a new train to Warsaw via Rava-Ruska. And today we are launching this train. The development of comfortable interchange routes allows us to increase supply. The effectiveness of such logistics has been proven by the Kyiv-Chelm-Warsaw route, which has almost 100% occupancy. We hope that the new Lviv-Rava-Ruska-Warsaw trains will not be an exception. For the first week of this train, 70% of the offered tickets have already been sold. We thank our passengers who have chosen to travel on this new route. In the near future, we plan to launch an international train Chop – Prague, and we are also working on the route Przemysl – Berlin,” said Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
- As a reminder, new connections from Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv, as well as Stryi, Kolomyia, Kalush, Morshyn, Bryukhovychi, and Zhovkva to Lublin and Warsaw will be available starting October 15. Tickets can be purchased in the Ukrzaliznytsia app, on the website, in the chatbot, and at the ticket offices of railway stations.
- For now, the route will operate in a transfer format at the Rava-Ruska station in Lviv region. Here, passengers will be able to make a convenient transfer from a Ukrainian gauge train (1520 mm) to a European gauge train (1435 mm) and vice versa.
- Earlier it was reported that the Polish railway company Stowarzyszenie Kolejowych Przewozów Lokalnych (SKPL) has received all the permits to launch trains from Warsaw to Rava-Ruska.
