After September 15, Poland will not allow the import of Ukrainian grain into the country

On September 15, the EU ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary expires.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland, Robert Telus, emphasized that over 7 million tons of grain from Ukraine have been exported from Poland in transit over the past six months. According to the official, after September 15, Poland is ready to help transport grain to other countries, but Ukrainian grain will not be imported to Poland.

This was reported by Polish Radio.

On Friday, September 8, at the border checkpoint in the village of Dolobychiv, the Minister of Agriculture announced at a joint meeting with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki that in early 2023, grain imports from Ukraine across the border of five frontline countries, including Poland, amounted to approximately 3 million tons.

“In April, imports dropped to 2 million tons, but in May, July and June, this figure returned to 3 million tons. This shows that Ukraine is exporting grain. In February, 114 thousand tons crossed our borders in transit. In March, the figure was 120 thousand tons, and in June it was over 260 thousand tons. This means that transit has more than doubled. Within six months, we exported more than 7 million tons of grain from Poland,” said Robert Telus.
