Railway traffic is suspended
On Saturday, July 22, the occupation authorities of Crimea announced the attack of the peninsula’s infrastructure facilities by drones: an oil depot in the village of Oktyabrskoye is on fire and an ammunition depot at the airfield located there is detonated. Railroad traffic was suspended
The head of the occupation authorities of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, said that the detonation of ammunition in the warehouse also took place.
According to him, there were no casualties or damage. However, people within a 5 kilometer radius are being evacuated.
“An enemy drone attack on the Krasnohvardiyskiy district resulted in a detonation at an ammunition depot. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties. A decision was made to evacuate the population within a radius of 5 kilometers from the place of the emergency to temporary accommodation centers,” the statement said.
The occupiers also suspended traffic on the Crimean railway “to minimize risks”.
Earlier, Aksyonov reported a drone attack on the peninsula’s infrastructure facilities.
“The enemy attempted to attack infrastructure facilities in Krasnogvardeisky district of the Republic of Crimea using a UAV. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is on the spot to eliminate possible consequences. All specialized services are working,” he wrote.
The local TV channel “NS/Simferopol” reported that several drones allegedly attacked an oil depot and airfield in the village of Oktyabrskoye, located in the central part of the peninsula. Ammunition detonated there.
In addition, the Russian TV channel ASTRA reported that a fire also broke out at the Elevatornaya railway station in Oktyabrske.
Earlier, the Information Center for Highways informed about the situation on the road approaches to the Crimean Bridge, including the temporary blocking of traffic on the Crimean Bridge.
The Armed Forces took responsibility
The Strategic Communications Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed its involvement in the attacks at 12:58 a.m.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed an oil depot and warehouses of the Russian army in the temporarily occupied Oktyabrskoye (Krasnogvardeyskiy district of Crimea),” StratCom said in a statement.
On July 20, the occupiers accused Ukraine of a drone attack on Crimea. Allegedly, 4 administrative buildings were damaged and a teenager was killed.
