Air defense system works on Russian missiles near Odesa – video of the Air Force Commander

The commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk published footage of Ukrainian air defense against Russian cruise missiles that attacked Odesa region on the night of September 17.

The video shows Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners from the Pivden air defense complex launching a missile from the air defense system, which hits the enemy target. Imitating the “victim”, it collides with it, forming a kind of fireworks display.

Earlier, the military reported that Russia had launched a total of 16 air targets into Ukraine: six Russian-Iranian kamikaze drones and 10 cruise missiles of the X-101/X-555/X-55 types, launched from nine Tu-95MS strategic aircraft from the Engels area.

The air defense forces shot down all the Shahids and six missiles, but the Russians hit a grain storage facility in Odesa region. There were no casualties.

As a reminder, after Russia withdrew from the grain agreement in mid-July 2023, the Russian army has been using missiles and drones to destroy ports and grain storage facilities in Odesa region. After Ukraine started exporting more grain through the Danube ports to Romania, Izmail and Reni became frequent targets for the occupiers. In order to resume the agreement, the occupiers want one of their banks and fertilizer companies in Russia to be exempt from sanctions. The Turkish president said that Ukraine should allegedly soften its conditions, but the Foreign Ministry said that there would be no concessions to the enemy. According to forecasts, in spite of everything, Ukraine will harvest more grain in 2023 than last year.
