Already on December 14: Meta’s Threads social network is preparing to “take over” the EU market
On December 14, Threads will become available in the EU. Meta hasn’t made any announcements yet, but a countdown timer has appeared on the website for European users.
According to The Verge, Instagram users in the EU can also find digital “tickets” to Threads, as well as a QR code to download the app. The launch will take place in different countries at different times.
Earlier, Meta explained the delay in the European release of Threads by “regulatory uncertainty.” The company was probably referring to the EU’s tough new Digital Markets Act (DMA), under which the company was recognized as an online gatekeeper. It is now obliged to comply with new regulations on user data privacy.
It is not yet known whether Meta has made any changes to the operation of Threads for Europe to comply with the DMA.
