An electric car that can be left uncharged is presented
On a clear day, the solar panels on the roof of the Lightyear One provide 70 km of range, and gloomy – 35 km. This is enough for everyday driving.
Dutch startup Lightyear has completed work on the first One model. The innovative electric car with solar panels is ready for series production and will be sold at a price of 250 thousand euros. This was reported by the official website of Lightyear.
Lightyear One worked on for six years, and its first prototype shown to the public in 2019. Initially, a batch of 964 cars will be released: the cars will be delivered to customers in November.
New – streamlined five-door liftback with an elongated silhouette. Its aerodynamics are well-developed – the drag coefficient is only 0.19.
Dimensions of Lightyear One:
- Length – 5083 mm
- Width – 1972 mm
- Height – 1445 mm
Body panels and interior trim are made of recycled plastic. The front panel has four displays at once – a virtual instrument panel, a 10.1-inch touch screen and a pair of camera monitors that replace rearview mirrors. The boot volume is 640 liters, and between the front seats there is a 12-liter compartment for small luggage.
Four motor wheels with a total capacity of 177 h.p. Allow an electric car weighing 1575 kg to accelerate to 100 km/h in 10 s and develop 160 km/h. Solar panels on the roof and hood provide up to 70 km per day in clear weather and 35 km in cloudy weather.
That is, during daily operation in the city, the electric car cannot be charged – enough solar panels. The 60 kWh rechargeable battery is designed for long journeys – its charge will be enough for 625 km.
