FSB asks residents to keep silent - RosSIA

According to Russian journalists, an unidentified flying object was seen in the sky above the city, followed by an explosion at the naval base. The Russian Defense Ministry said that it was allegedly a training exercise for the Gromky corvette.

An explosion occurred in Vladivostok near the naval base on the night of August 9. This was reported by the Russian media outlet Astra, citing eyewitnesses.

Local publics actively discussed the incident, citing the testimonies of their subscribers. One of the residents wrote: “Hello! I live on Heroiv-Pikhokoikets Street near Ulysses Bay. About half an hour ago (3:30 am) there was an explosion from the side of the naval base! We called the police, firefighters and even the FSB. The whole house was in an uproar!”

Local politician Maksim Chikhunov also said that FSB officers came in the morning and asked local residents to remain silent about the incident.

“In the morning, FSB officers came and questioned us. The neighbor told us not to tell anyone about what happened. We tried to take a photo, but nothing was visible through the trees. In any case, it was already late, and the explosion woke us up. Then there was a strong smell, like burning plastic,” Chukhunov quoted one of the locals as saying.

In addition, residents reportedly spotted an unidentified flying object in the sky near Luhova Square.

Later, according to the Russian media, representatives of the press service of the Eastern Military District said that a training exercise of the Gromky corvette had allegedly taken place near Vladivostok.

As a reminder, on August 9, explosions also occurred in the occupied Crimea. According to eyewitnesses, helicopters were then sent into the sky in the Dzhankoy district, and traffic on the Crimean bridge was blocked.

A day earlier, on August 8, explosions were also reported in the Jankoi area. The occupation administration stated that the explosions heard by local residents were caused by the disposal of ammunition.
