TM-62M anti-tank mines detonated on the territory of Belarus near the Ukrainian border, the monitoring group said.

On the night of August 29, several mines exploded on a railway bridge 800 meters from the Slovechno station in the Gomel region near the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. This was reported by the monitoring group Belaruski Gayun on Telegram.

“Pro-Lukashevik channels report that today at around 03:30 several TM-62M anti-tank mines detonated on a railway bridge 800 meters from the Slovechno station,” the statement said.

Preliminarily, it could have been due to a lightning strike. As a result of the explosion, the bridge pillars were damaged and the railroad track on the bridge, which is located on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, was destroyed in both directions. As evidence, the monitoring group showed a photo taken from the territory of Belarus towards Ukraine.

They added that there was no information about the victims.

The spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, confirmed to Radio Liberty Belarus that mines detonated near the border due to a lightning strike, which damaged the railroad.

“According to the information I have, no one was injured. I would also like to add that there are restrictions on the movement of citizens at the border, especially near the border line. Therefore, minefields in certain areas important for Ukraine’s security threaten only those who want to come to us with war,” said Andriy Demchenko.
