Android 14 will get a useful feature for smartphone battery
The informant Mishal Rahman managed to find a rather interesting fragment in the Android 14 beta code. This is the new BatteryManager API, which allows you to learn much more about the battery pack than in all previous versions of Android. In particular, the new API allows you to set the date of the first power on of a mobile device.
According to the insider, Android 14 will have the following information about the battery pack:
- Date of manufacture.
- Number of cycles.
- Date of first use.
- Charging status.
- Condition.
It is worth noting that users will only be able to view data on the number of cycles and charging status. All other information will be used by the OS.
Rahman found one limitation in the program code for using the API in Pixel smartphones. Before the above information appears in the settings of Android devices, you can familiarize yourself with it using the Batt app created by the enthusiast @narektor.
