Another Tesla competitor Cybertruck has been created in China

In 2022, the Chinese company Geely, which also owns Volvo, Polestar, and ZEEKR, launched another brand – Radar. Recently, the company announced that it is launching a new version of its electric pickup truck, which will compete with Cybertruck.

The Radar brand is positioned in China as “the first brand of pure electric vehicles for outdoor recreation.” The RD6 pickup is the first car of the brand.

The RD6 is based on a version of the Geely SEA platform used for the Polestar 4, Volvo EM90 and all ZEEKR models. The Radar electric pickup is currently offered with three battery options: 63 kWh, 86 kWh or 100 kWh with a range of up to 632 km (according to CLTC).

An all-wheel drive version of the model is currently expected to be launched. Radar CEO Ling Shiqiang confirmed that the all-wheel drive pickup will be launched in the second quarter.

Ling claims that the Chinese electric truck with all-wheel drive will have acceleration similar to Tesla’s Cybertruck. He also said that the new all-wheel drive model can cross fords up to 813 mm deep, which is more than General Motors’ Hummer EV can overcome.

The RD6 will also be able to charge other electric vehicles, have a payload of 865 kg and a towing capacity of up to 3 tons. The mono-drive pickup truck is sold in China at a price of 178,800 yuan ($ 25,000). The all-wheel drive version is expected to be the top-of-the-line configuration and will cost about $30,000.

The price of Cybertruck starts at $79,990. Tesla’s version of the Cyberbeast boasts three engines with a total capacity of 845 hp, which accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.

The dynamic performance of the all-wheel drive RD6 has not yet been disclosed, but company representatives say that the pickup will be on par with the famous Cybertruck, and in some respects will even surpass it.
