Apple, Disney, Sony Pictures and other companies have stopped all advertising on X (Twitter) because of Elon Musk
The social network X (formerly Twitter) and its owner Elon Musk have been caught up in a serious scandal this week. And the consequences were not long in coming: the largest companies are stopping advertising on the social network.
Recently, one user wrote on the social network that Jewish communities support “dialectical hatred of whites.” Perhaps his post would have gone unnoticed, but Elon Musk commented on it, writing: “You have spoken the truth.”
The very next day, Media Matters for America published a report claiming that ads for a number of companies in X, including Apple, IBM, Oracle, and others, were displayed alongside posts containing far-right conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic content.
Elon Musk, of course, denies everything. He even promised to sue Media Matters for America for fraudulently attacking the company. And X CEO Linda Yaccarino said that the social network is fighting discrimination and anti-Semitism.
However, IBM was one of the first to stop advertising on the social network, and now Apple has joined it. The Axios report, citing anonymous sources, says that Apple is “suspending all advertising” in X. There are no further details on how long this pause will last.
Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Sony Pictures and Lionsgate.
