Apple engineers trained iOS to identify fake AirPods
The iOS 16 software platform introduced last Tuesday is capable of identifying fake AirPods. This feature first appeared in a Release Candidate build.
According to the data of the network edition 9to6mac, in the iOS files, enthusiasts discovered a code that indicates the expansion of the functionality of the software platform in the above direction. The latter will warn users about connecting non-original headphones to the smartphone. A corresponding message will be displayed on the iPhone screen.
There will be a ‘Learn more’ button in the SMS window. When clicking on it, the user will be redirected to a page with an article about the signs of a fake published by the support service on the Apple website. 9to6mac journalists note that it is not yet completely clear whether iOS will block the connection of a fake accessory to a smartphone.
It is known that iOS 16 will be able to verify the authenticity of AirPods only. The verification function will not apply to headphones from other manufacturers. The release of the release version is scheduled for September 12.
