Apple introduces new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max processors

Apple, as promised, held a “Scary Fast” event on the night of October 30-31, where it showed several new products, including updated versions of the MacBook Pro.

What is known

We are talking about 14 and 16-inch models. All models in the new lineup feature Liquid Retina XDR displays supporting SDR content with 20% higher brightness, a built-in 1080p camera, and a six-speaker sound system. The battery life of the new MacBook Pro reaches 22 hours. In addition, the displays have a sustained brightness of 1000 nits and a peak brightness of 1600 nits for HDR content.

The new devices are powered by M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max processors. The standard M3 chip has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, the M3 Pro chip has a 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU, and the M3 Max chip has a 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU. The processors support up to 24, 36, and 128 GB of memory, respectively. Apple claims that the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 is 60% faster than the 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. As for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro chip, they are 40% faster than the 16-inch model with M1 Pro.

The M3 processors are built on 3-nanometer technology and represent a faster and more efficient next-generation GPU. They implement the “dynamic caching” technology. This allows the GPU to allocate local memory usage in hardware in real time for each task.

By the way, in addition to the technical specifications, the new MacBook Pro models also received a new color – Space Black. It will be available only in versions with M3 Pro and M3 Max processors.

Price and when to expect it

New MacBook Pro models are now available for order. The devices will go on sale on Tuesday, November 7. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 costs $1599, the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 Pro costs $1999, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro costs $2499.
