Apple is preparing several new tablets, including iPad mini 7, iPad Air and iPad Pro with M3 processor
Apple hasn’t released new tablets for quite some time – the latest updates were the iPad Pro M2 and iPad 10, which were introduced in October last year. But sources at 9to5Mac say that the company is already preparing several new tablet models for release.
What to expect
In the near future (although the exact timing is unclear), Apple is expected to introduce the iPad mini 7. Most likely, it will retain the same design, but will receive a new processor – the current iPad mini 6 was released in September 2021, and it is still equipped with the A15 Bionic chip, the same as the iPhone 13.
Also in the works is an updated iPad, codenamed J126b. The current 10th-generation iPad was introduced last year with a design similar to the iPad Air, a USB-C port, and an A14 Bionic chip. The new model is expected to have improved performance.
In addition, according to the sources, the company is experimenting with two new versions of the iPad Air, codenamed J507 and J508. Most likely, these are versions with Wi-Fi and cellular communication. In addition, Apple is working on other iPads, designated as J537 and J538, which are based on the iPad Air. Perhaps these are models of different sizes.
New generation iPad Pro tablets with the M3 chip are also on the way. They are designated J717 and J718 for 11-inch models and J720 and J721 for larger models.
It is not yet known when Apple will present new tablets. All of them are being prepared for release with the upcoming version of iPadOS 17, which means they should be announced before WWDC 2024 in June.
