Apple prepares revolutionary update for iPad Pro and MacBook Pro with M5 processors

According to Bloomberg, Apple is actively testing new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models equipped with advanced M5 processors. Tablet production is expected to begin in the second half of the year, with a presentation expected in autumn, continuing the company’s tradition of October announcements.

Future Apple Updates and Technological Innovations

According to Mark Gurman (Bloomberg) in his weekly Power On newsletter, Apple is actively testing new iPad Pro models with the M5 processor, and mass production of the tablets will begin in the second half of the year.

The iPad Pro with M5 is currently in ‘advanced testing’ phase. Given Apple’s previous product release cycles, new devices can be expected in October — this is when the company introduced iPad Pro models in 2018 and 2022.

Recall that the last iPad Pro update occurred in May 2024, when the tablet received a revolutionary Ultra Retina XDR OLED display. Available in 11-inch and 13-inch versions with peak brightness up to 1600 nits, and for the first time featuring an anti-reflective glass option with nanotexture. The updated iPad Pro version retained all these innovations, including:

  • Optimized front camera placement on the side edge for convenient use in landscape mode
  • Single rear camera with flash and LiDAR scanner
  • Support for the new Apple Pencil Pro

Regarding the MacBook Pro, Gurman reports that the 2024 update will focus exclusively on implementing the M5 chip. No significant design changes are expected until 2026, when a major redesign is planned with the implementation of an OLED display and reduced body thickness. This phased approach to updates reflects Apple’s typical strategy for improving its flagship products.

The update of Apple’s professional device lineup with M5 processors demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and improving user experience. While design changes will be minimal, performance improvements thanks to the new chips could be a significant step forward for professional users.
