Apple wants to train its AI using news publications
Apple is negotiating with some major news publishers to license and use their archives to train generative artificial intelligence systems.
About this he writes The New York Times
According to sources, Apple is discussing “multi-year deals worth at least $50 million.” The company is in contact with such large holdings as Condé Nast, NBC News, and IAC.
The reaction of some publishers seems to be mixed. According to the NYT, they could potentially “find themselves on the hook for legal liabilities as a result of Apple’s use of their content.” Meanwhile, the tech giant is “vague” about its plans for news and generative AI.
However, other company executives were more positive about the possibility of partnering with Apple, the NYT reports.
