At night, Russian forces once again attacked the port infrastructure on the Danube. Romania has launched F-16 combat fighters and Eurofighter Typhoon military aircraft. The country’s Defense Ministry reported that a downed Russian drone had crashed in Romania.
The UAV reportedly left a 1.5-meter-deep crater near the village of Hryndu, which is located about 8 km from the Ukrainian port of Reni.
“F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force from the 86th air base in Fethos and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft of the German Air Force from the 57th air base “Mihail Kogelnicianu” were raised to perform tasks of monitoring the national airspace,” the statement said.
Romania’s Defense Ministry strongly condemned Russia’s strikes on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
“The Romanian army’s radar surveillance system detected a possible unauthorized intrusion into the national airspace, and the signal was detected at low altitude on the way to the Grindu area in Tulcea County,” the Romanian Defense Ministry said.
