According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a Russian air defense system allegedly shot down a missile in the airspace over the village of Bezsonovka in the Belgorod region.
In the early morning hours of December 12, an attack on the territory of the Belgorod region (Russia) was recorded. This information was made public by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry via Telegram.
The Russian Defense Ministry blamed Ukraine for the incident.
“Today at 05:00, we managed to intercept an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack on facilities in the Russian Federation using a Tochka-U tactical missile,” the statement said.
In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the country’s air defense allegedly shot down a missile in the Belgorod region.
Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that Russian air defense systems had allegedly destroyed an air target over Bezsonivka.
“First responders are clarifying the details of the incident. There is currently no information on casualties or damage,” said Vyacheslav Gladkov.
At the time of publication, the Ukrainian side had not commented on the statements of the Russian Defense Ministry and Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
“Tochka-U” is a missile system based on a 6×6 all-wheel drive floating chassis of the BAZ. The missile has a 482-kilometer warhead and can be equipped with various types of warheads. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Tochka-U missile systems have been used by both sides.
