According to The Washington Post, President Biden’s administration has already approved the supply of cluster munitions to Ukraine. They will be included in a new military aid package that may be announced today, July 7.
We are talking about M864 cluster munitions. Their production began in 1987. The M864 is a joint project of Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation and Talley Defense Systems. Such ammunition can be used with 155-mm artillery. For example, AS Krab, CAESAR, M109A6 Paladin and Panzerhaubitze 2000, which are in service in Ukraine.

Cluster munitions are a type of air-to-ground or ground-to-ground munitions that contain from two to several hundred of the same type of cluster warheads. They are scattered at a given height above the ground. Typically, such shells are used to destroy enemy personnel and vehicles.
