Biden’s impeachment: The House of Representatives of the US Congress voted to begin the procedure

The Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to formalize the ongoing investigation into the impeachment of Democratic President Joe Biden.

This was reported by the BBC.

This decision was voted for by 221 congressmen from the Republican Party, against 212 members of the Democratic Party.

Republicans claim that they suspect Joe Biden of personally benefiting from his 53-year-old son Hunter Biden’s deals with foreign partners, including Ukrainian ones, and that he used the name and position of his father, then vice president.

The Republicans have not yet provided any evidence, although the story of these suspicions has been going on for several years.

In a written statement, the president himself called the investigation a “political stunt” by Republicans.

According to Reuters, this Republican initiative will still not result in Biden’s removal from the presidency.

“Even if the House of Representatives votes to impeach the president, the Senate must then formally charge him with these charges by a two-thirds vote, which is virtually impossible in a chamber where Biden’s fellow Democrats have a majority: 51 to 449,” the agency explains.

  • As a reminder, in May, Republican Marjorie Taylor Green announced her intention to introduce a bill to Congress to impeach US President Joe Biden over his migration policy.
  • In mid-September, the U.S. House of Representatives launched an official investigation into the possibility of announcing the start of impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden.
