“Black Shahed-136s are born in the field”: details of the new “modernization” of the Russian drone have become known
“Black” The Shahed-136 is not somehow a special version of this Iranian missile aircraft, and their “modernization” takes place in the field.
The enemy continues to use the so-called “black” Shahed-136, the first use of which was noticed during a massive attack on Kyiv on the night of November 25. The only thing that distinguishes them from conventional ones is the color of the hull, but this can make it difficult for mobile fire teams to shoot them down, because in order to destroy a target, they must first see it.
However, while one sample showed a dense, possibly factory-made application of black paint, two downed aircraft shells have now been found to have been painted in the field. For example, photos from the National Guard of Ukraine showed the wreckage of a drone that was only partially black.
Moreover, one of the photos shows that this downed Shahed had a “honeycomb” type body material. That is, this is definitely an old version of the drone, or a batch from an Iranian company that uses this particular production technology.
Even more illustrative is a video from the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Nayev, from his meeting with the defenders of Kyiv’s airspace.
The video shows the wreckage of a Shahed-136 that was simply painted by the enemy with a spray can.
In other words, in Russia, the “modernization” of Shaheds to “black” is carried out in the field. And you need to be prepared for the increasing use of drones in this color.
It should also be noted that in Russia, as part of a rather artisanal experiment, 4G modems with SIM cards of Ukrainian operators have been installed on Shahed, which allows for two-way communication with the aircraft and possibly for use as an additional navigation system through the LBS function.
