In 2018, the Pentagon launched the ERAMS program aimed at developing long-range artillery shells. They are being developed by Boeing in cooperation with the Norwegian company Nammo. Boeing has recently unveiled another sample of the 155-mm Ramjet 155 ammunition. It is equipped with a direct-flow jet engine.

Initially, the developers of the Ramjet 155 expected a flight range of more than 70 km. They are currently working to ensure that the artillery rockets are capable of hitting targets at a distance of 150 km.

It is worth noting that the missile received a mission computer from a corrected JDAM bomb. This means that it can only be used to hit stationary targets. It is possible that the final version of the munition will be equipped with a GCS, which will make it possible to use it against moving targets.

It is known that BAE Systems, TNO and RTX are also working on a “sub-caliber” guided long-range projectile. In the technical documentation, it appears as XM1155-SC.
