Polish carriers threatened to block all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. At the moment, the queue of trucks at the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint is 30 kilometers long.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to European Pravda.
“We will intensify the protest by not letting cars from Ukraine through at all border crossings with Poland. But I think something will be resolved by then, because everything is going in the right direction,” said Adam Izdebski, a representative of the Polish Committee for the Protection of Carriers and Employers in the Transport Sector.
According to the Polish media, the line of trucks at the Medyka-Szegini checkpoint stretched for 30 kilometers. The average waiting time is 127 hours.
Firefighters and volunteers in the area of Przemysl provide warm food to stranded drivers. Polish drivers also stand in lines on the Ukrainian side for several days.
As a reminder, the reason for the strikes by Polish carriers is excessive competition following the liberalization of international transportation between Ukraine and the EU.
It is also known that the European Commission is considering imposing sanctions against Poland due to delays at the border with Ukraine and the blockade of cargo.
