China returns mysterious spacecraft to Earth after 276-day flight

Recently, a Chinese reusable spacecraft returned to Earth. It spent more than six months traveling.

The spacecraft took off on August 4, 2022. It was launched using a Long March 2F rocket from the Jiuquan launch site in China. This was the second orbital journey for this spacecraft.

The mysterious mission, about which there is almost no information, ended on May 8, 2023. The aircraft traveled for 276 days. It landed at the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in northwestern China.

Researchers from China are in no hurry to share the details of the mission. They only noted that the experiment was successful and marks an “important breakthrough” in the field of reusable spacecraft research.

It should be noted that at the end of last year, a similar American drone returned to Earth. The device, called the Boeing X-37B, was in orbit for 908 days. The US Space Force says that the drone conducted a series of scientific experiments at an altitude of approximately 400 km.
