China shows for the first time how the fifth-generation J-20 Mighty Dragon fighter jet launched a missile to practice destroying enemy aircraft

China and the United States are trying to keep the capabilities of fifth-generation stealth fighters secret. However, Chinese media showed the J-20 Mighty Dragon launching the missile.

The footage of the missile launch was captured in a video published in honor of the 74th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force of China. A fifth-generation J-20 fighter jet launched an air-to-air missile to practice intercepting an enemy aircraft in Chinese airspace.

Many Chinese fighters are based on Russian and Soviet aircraft. However, the J-20 is an exception. It is almost completely copied from the American F-22 Raptor. James Anderson, a former U.S. Department of Defense official from the Donald Trump administration, says China has stolen American technology.

The J-20 Mighty Dragon looks very much like the F-22 Raptor, the first fifth-generation fighter jet in history. At the same time, James Anderson claims that the Chinese also used technologies from the F-35 Lightning II program.

Mighty Dragon first flew 12 years ago. It was put into service in 2017. The United States fears the J-20 program because it believes that the Chinese fighter could outperform the F-22 Raptor.

The number of J-20s is not specified. According to current estimates, China has about 200 fifth-generation fighter jets. At the same time, the United States recognizes that China’s Mighty Dragon park continues to grow.
