Chinese Foreign Ministry denies information about military assistance to Russia

The Chinese diplomat denied that Beijing’s companies supply critical components for Russia’s military industry and emphasized that his country maintains “normal” trade relations with the aggressor country.

China insists that it will not “add fuel to the fire” of the war in Ukraine and hopes for further discussions on the peace plan previously proposed by Beijing. This was stated by Foreign Minister Qin Gang on Wednesday, May 10, Sky News reports.

According to the publication, after a meeting with his German counterpart in Berlin, Qin Gang spoke about the Chinese government’s recent talks with both Moscow and Kyiv and said that China’s special representative to Europe plans to visit Ukraine again soon.

“We will not add fuel to the fire of war,” he said.

The diplomat did not confirm the information that Chinese manufacturing firms supply critical components to Russia’s military industry. According to him, Beijing maintains “normal” trade relations with Russia.

In addition, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that his country does not intend to take advantage of the war in Ukraine and sincerely hopes for further discussion of the peace plan proposed by Beijing earlier this year.

As a reminder, on May 8, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said that China wants to stabilize relations with the United States, although it accuses the latter of “a series of wrong words and actions” that have worsened these relations.

It should also be noted that on May 9, it became known that in April 2023, the People’s Republic of China received record revenues from exporting its products to the Russian Federation.
