Commercial electric car “Karpaty” created in Lviv region (photo)
The first sample has already been certified and will be tested until the end of the year before mass production.
The first domestic light truck with prospects of becoming a mass-produced vehicle was presented at the Autotechservice-ComAutoTrans 2023 exhibition at the IEC in Moscow.
The Stryi-Avto bus plant in Lviv region showed an electric low-tonnage car called Karpaty. This is a preliminary name that demonstrates the domestic origin of the electric vehicle. Indeed, it contains most of the Ukrainian components – the manufacturer claims a localization level of more than 70%.
The truck frame is made of steel, and the body panels are fiberglass. The glass and tires are made in Bila Tserkva, and the wheels, springs, and seats are also domestic. The traction battery is made of Chinese components, and the steering mechanism and dashboard are also from China. Instead, the bridge and electric motor are Italian, and the headlights are Turkish.
The body with a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons is also of our own production – now it is tilted, but it can be any kind of tilted body depending on the customer’s needs. The driving range on a single charge is currently up to 200 km, but it can be increased thanks to a more powerful battery.
The first prototype of the electric vehicle is currently on display. It studies potential demand and collects suggestions for improving the design. Now the car looks like a home-made vehicle, although it is already certified, so it can travel on public roads.
The first model of the Karpaty electric car will be tested in Stryi by the end of the year, and another version of the electric car will be produced after that. After that, Stryi Auto will present a production version and start accepting orders for this electric car.
The approximate cost of a domestic electric car will be 25-30 thousand US dollars.
