Croatia handed over all its Mi-8 helicopters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In June of this year, Croatia handed over 14 Mi-8 helicopters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of military aid. As it turned out, these were all helicopters of this type that were in service with the Croatian army.

The information was shared by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at a joint briefing with his Croatian counterpart. We are talking about helicopters in the Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-8T modifications. Some of the helicopters flew to Ukraine on their own, while others were brought in by land. By the way, Croatia gave Ukraine the Mi-8 for a reason. In return, the Croatian army will receive additional Black Hawk helicopters from the United States.

The Mi-8 is a Soviet/Russian multi-purpose helicopter developed in the early 1960s. The Mi-8 is the most massive twin-engine helicopter and one of the most massive helicopters in the history of aviation. It is widely used to perform many civilian and military tasks. The Mi-8 has many modifications. It can be found in more than 50 countries around the world.
