D-30 artillerymen show their work near Kreminna (video)

The Ukrainian military say they are seeing the depletion of enemy artillery. Previously, the Russian Armed Forces could allocate up to 10 howitzers at once for counter-battery operations, but now the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ D-30 can work all day without an enemy response.

One of the artillery brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is fighting in the area of Kreminna against Russian troops. Andriy, the commander of the D-30 crew, told ArmyInform journalists about his work.

Junior Sergeant Andriy has been at war for 4 years since he turned eighteen. During this time, he has destroyed many enemy forces and equipment. Currently, his unit is performing tasks near Kreminna as part of an air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the fighter, they are in round-the-clock readiness to open fire. It takes about a minute from the moment they receive information about the target to the first shot.

“We perform a variety of tasks, destroying Russian equipment, manpower, fighting their artillery. Drones fly over the front line. As soon as they detect targets, we get to work. We are firing at the targets. Each shot is made in coordination with aerial reconnaissance,” says Officer Maksym.

He adds that aerial reconnaissance transmits information about the hit on the target and also adjusts fire after each shot. According to the military, as a rule, the second shell hits the target exactly. The military have carefully disguised their position, because not only do they strike, but they also try to hit back. That’s why the artillerymen have a system of trenches, dugouts and ammunition shelters.

Officer Maksym claims that there is a depletion of the Russian Armed Forces. “Last year in the spring, when the military opened fire, the occupiers immediately started counter-battery fire from ten howitzers. Therefore, the soldiers were constantly changing positions to survive and save the howitzers.

“The occupiers did not save shells. It was the most difficult period of the war for our battery. Now the situation is changing. Now it happens that we can work all day long, and the Russians do not oppose this,” says Maksym.

The fighters also say they were able to hit a Russian self-propelled artillery system at the maximum firing distance of 15,000 meters. The occupiers fired at them, but did not change positions, so the D-30 defeated the enemy after the attack.
