Destroy a tank from 30 km: the military showed Hydra 400 jet drone with Brimstone missiles

Engineers call the drone an analog of the Apache combat helicopter that fits in the trunk of a car.

The British Army has unveiled a jet-powered drone that launches Brimstone laser-guided missiles used by the Armed Forces to destroy the occupiers. This was reported by The Sun newspaper.

The Hydra 400 drone concept can carry three destructive Brimstone missiles, and the missiles can be launched simultaneously or alternately. Andy Allen, representing missile manufacturer MBDA, said the Hydra 400 concept was a “game changer.” A source at the Ministry of Defense told The Sun that the weapon, first developed by an experimental military team in the army, would give troops “an Apache attack helicopter in the trunk of their car,” a standard Land Rover military jeep.

According to the English edition, it takes technicians only six minutes to prepare and launch the Hydra 400, and the Brimstone missiles used can hit a tank at a distance of 30 kilometers from the drone. The drone is propelled by six jet engines that rotate the propellers and increase the drone’s lift.

The Hydra 400 concept is due to be tested later this year in a major military exercise after Brimstone missiles proved to be a great success in Ukraine, penetrating Russian tanks. However, a source warned that British bureaucratic red tape means it could be up to five years before the Hydra 400 is allowed to fire Brimstones on British ranges.

Earlier it was reported that the UK is handing over 23 Scimitar reconnaissance vehicles to Ukraine. Dozens of reconnaissance vehicles will be repaired and maintained before being sent to the Ukrainian army.

In addition, the UK provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with dozens of Wolfram armored vehicles for Brimstone missiles. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, Kyiv begged for equipment to counter the heavy armor of the Russian Armed Forces. At that time, the British military developed the Wolfram ground-based platform, which fires Brimstone missiles.
